David Foy | Solicitor

David is a graduate of the University of Limerick, holding a Bachelor of Laws Degree and a first-class honours Master of Laws Degree in International Commercial Law. He has worked with MacSweeney & Company since 2018, qualifying as a solicitor in 2021.

David works closely with the firm's Managing Partner, Shane MacSweeney, practising predominantly in the areas of employment law and commercial litigation.

In his employment practice, he advises on a wide range of contentious and non-contentious issues, acting on behalf of both employers and employees. He regularly supports employers, drafting bespoke employment contracts, agreements and HR policies & procedures. He provides ongoing support to HR managers in relation to the management of day-to-day disciplinary issues, the handling of employee-related complaints, internal reorganisations and rationalisations, transfers of undertaking and terminations. He also advises on the areas of data protection and privacy. He has significant experience in drafting legal submissions and in advocating and representing clients before the Workplace Relations Commission, the Labour Court, and the ordinary courts, having represented clients all the way up to Supreme Court level.

He further supports the firm’s insolvency and commercial litigation practices and advises on issues such as partnership, shareholder and commercial disputes, in addition to providing corporate due diligence support.
